My Birth Vision - Prepare for Your Birth
Fillable birth maps for physiological and planned caesarean births
You’ve done the research. You’ve done Familyhood’s Birth.Ed Course (hehe!). You know what matters to you. But on the day, in the intensity of labour or the bright lights of theatre, it can be hard to find the words. The Birth Map Kit puts your preferences on paper, in the order your birth will unfold, so your care team knows what matters to you before you have to say it.
This is the same process I take my doula clients through in consultation. Now you can work through it at your own pace, together, from your couch.
Note: These are intended to capture your birth preferences. Plans can change. Your consent can change at any time. The rights of the birthing woman don’t change, but the preferences might.
What’s inside
Physiological Birth Map Questionnaire (10 pages): stage by stage, from early labour to the golden hours. Includes your birth space, natural comfort measures, pushing, placenta and newborn care, plus a contingency map for pain relief, induction, augmentation, caesarean and an unexpected birth at home. Also includes contact details and other particulars.
Planned Caesarean Birth Map Questionnaire (8 pages): for a gentle, informed caesarean. Covers your birth history and any past experiences you’d like to be different, preparing for the day, theatre preferences (drapes, music, lighting, maternally assisted birth), skin to skin, vaginal seeding and recovery.
Birth Map at a Glance (3 pages): your whole birth on one page for your care team. It includes a page for your birth vision, a one-page contingency map, emergency contacts, and a running list of questions to take to every appointment until baby is born.
How it works
Fill in your in-depth questionnaire, physiological or planned caesarean, stage by stage, together.
Transfer your key choices onto your Birth Map at a Glance.
Share it with your care team at appointments and on the day.
Why you’ll love it
Feel heard, not hurried. Your preferences are clear before anyone has to ask.
Make informed choices. Every option prompts you to think it through, with BRAIN (Benefits, Risks, Alternatives, Intuition, Nothing) built in.
Prepared for every path. The contingency maps mean a change of plan doesn’t mean losing your voice.
Your partner knows their role. Prompts throughout help your birth partner understand how to support you.
Nothing left unanswered. The questions tracker keeps you on top of what to ask your care provider before 40 weeks.
Easy to use. Fill it in on screen or print it, and save it to your phone for the day.
Made by a doula. It follows the same flow I use with my clients, with the language I use.
Format: Zip file delivered via email, downloaded via link. 3 Fillable PDFs, instant download, for personal use only. This kit is not medical advice. Always talk through your choices with your care provider.
